Stressed out with Life? Law of how to change Life.

Jun 4, 2014   //   by Anne Russell   //   Blog, Life Coaching  //  No Comments

Most common thread presently is the Stress of needing to Change Life and it’s events.

Well everything is tumbling around you and stress management is much needed or positivity is miles away and the negative is

winning superbly well – think on the Law of Nature, or Life is strong in it’s impact.

It is this – to be successful in Life, Love, whatever is important to you at that point, be aware that you need an “I CAN attitude”

Ok, it may take time to develop, it may take someone to hold your hand to get there, that’s fine. But instead of saying over “I can’t” that needs to change

into I CAN! When you constantly tell yourself you can’t do something, your clever subconscious will find a way to ensure you don’t succeed.

when you begin to believe you can do something – your subconscious mind begins to find solutions, events, ideas to heop you succeed!

Take that first step, take out time to do something positive to begin a move forward.

Change that thought, to change the feeling, to have a new motivation, which will result in new action!

This will lead you to the right people, the right or better strategy, a better belief system, a new and stronger attitude.

All these things create a better world for you from which will spring opportunities, events, differences that are positive.

Take that first brave step. Step out. Bring on the Change! Be kind to you!

Ardent Credit Card Services at Moorgate Point Knowsley.

Great people, who worked really well with me to introduce the Staff to good communication skills and renew their thoughts around working with the public.

In a short space of one morning, 12 of their staff worked in two groups with me to stimulate new thinking processes, and absorb lots of great new ideas for their

Well Being. We covered some Nutritional aspects, Positive Thinking, Anger Mangement, Communication with Difficult People, Stress Management, but focused mainly on the Positive Communication skills that come from knowing yourself – ie Personal Development.

Yes, it brought out new thinking, awareness, curiosity and new skills, enough to develop the Staff’s approach and attitude to their work, and their own lives.

Testimonial from the Manager Justine Crawley – “Anne made everyone feel relaxed. The Course was well structured and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks Anne.”

And from Clare, Training Manager: “I enjoyed the Presentation. Does make you stop to think about yourself and how making the changes suggested can positively impact your quality of life. Thank you.”

If you would like to hear more or have a Course or Presentation designed just for your Staff’s situations, please simply ring me for an initial chat to discuss your thoughts.

Thank you to Ardent for their great interest on the day.

Answers to overwhelm at busy times….

Dec 23, 2013   //   by Anne Russell   //   Blog, Life Coaching  //  No Comments

If this is your norm – that Overwhelm hits you at very busy times, here’s a few thoughts to re-think your feelings.

Point one: Ignore the idea of being Perfect! Yes really. Just drop the whole idea.

Do only what is needed then add on any extras you have the inclination and energy for.

Remove quite deliberately the “have-to” “must-do” “ought-to” from your language – and therefore from your thinking.

You will find things flow much more easily and all that really needs to happen, WILL.

The other way gives you stress major, tension, and create someone not that easy to be around – including for yourself!

You will permenantly be forcing yourself, and landing on Wednesday and Thursday with major issues you have created.

Point two: suggest you keep caffeine right down if not out, and replace with plain fluids to prevent too much adrenaline in your system.

Point three: Just let things be Ok – keep perspective, keep laughing, let things go by, remember to be respectful and grateful.

End! Busy times also quieten. Create not your own stress areas into overwhelm. Create its an “ok” situation.

Merry Christmas!

What qualities do our major important relationships need?

Nov 22, 2013   //   by Anne Russell   //   Blog, Life Coaching  //  No Comments

We all need close relationships. Sharing is a major human need.

But how many create the problems that destroy them in the first place?

In all of my experience, I can honestly say that the study that provided clear pointers in this direction rang true.

Relationships you want to last deserve to be treated well. If you want to preserve them, we need to be aware of our attitudes.

They are built on mutual respect and trust and this is maintained through countless moments of interactions that either

maintain or undermine the success of these qualities.

If you are struggling with relationships at work, at home in friendships consider this:

One moment that creates more potential for good or harm more than any other?

What is your answer to this pivotal question?

The study reveals one really highlighted point.

Being ignored. Immediate response is the most important response.

Even if you are not able to take any other action at that point.

Think about this. More next time.

It is now know for sure that desk jobs are really not good for you!

We are now generally a more sedentary nation – many people are sat at computers for their work – and millions more at tv, home computers etc.

We are known to have generally, 50 – 75% of our time sitting. We are largely inactive!

Unfortunately, sitting still for hours at a time is a major health risk – even if you are good at going for a run, going to the gym at the weekend, or even doing a workout every day.

Stunned? Yes, me too.

People who watch up to 6 hours of TV for instance in a day, or sit at computers can expect to die 5 years earlier than those who don’t!

WE ARE BUILT TO MOVE ABOUT, TO BE PHYSICALLY ON THE GO, TO BE ACTIVE.

Inactivity releases a huge number of metabolic changes eg, muscles turn into atrophy and lose the mitochondria (where we make our energy in the cell), and the ability to be endurance-type muscle.

These also burn fat – eventually the blood becomes very fatty, and it (fat) also gathers in muscle (remember heart is a muscle!), liver and colon – where it isn’t supposed to settle.

We become insulin resistant, and glucose will gather in the bloodstream as in diabetes. In 3 days we can produce insulin resistance – so we don’t use up the glucose, it is laid down as fat.

Ok, so exercising say up to an hour an day is beneficial – that’s every day! But what we DO need to do  is keep moving. Fidget even, stand up, walk about, go get a drink, do the dishes, stand up to write an email – move around 5 minutes in every hour – that makes an astonishing difference to the glucose in your bloodstream.

The message really is this: ( from Alpa Patel of the American Cancer Society in Atlanta who analysed data from a 14 year long study of 123,000 adults of middle age)  – “anything is better than nothing. Just getting up and moving at all is taking a big step in the right direction.”

Am afraid the otherwise result is the possibility from the study results that 37% higher mortality rate for women, and 17% higher rate for men – just for sitting still!

(NO, we don’t know why yet, the difference between the genders exist.)

how to switch off your brain! (5 minute trick)

Aug 2, 2013   //   by Anne Russell   //   Blog, Life Coaching  //  No Comments

On a daily basis we think thousands of thoughts!

When it comes to switching off at the end of a busy working day – and knowing you are maybe facing the family with more issues to resolve – how do you walk away from the “Office” in your head?

There are a variety of ways, but best of all, please use one that doesn’t include alcohol! This does not in fact resolve, but create more issues.

One very simple trick I gave a Mum who is having a fabulous career running her own company – but surrounded by 3 daughters issues at the end of a strenuous day….

A piece of paper and a pen – that is all she needed.

To pen in a time she must stop the Work Load. Then onto that paper she wrote any remaining ideas, thoughts and things to do for the next day.

She was given 5 minutes to complete this task.

It works. In 5, Chris was able to empty her mind of relevant tasks and thoughts for the next session at the Office.

Then she could return home, and Be IN THE NOW, be present, be focused on her family.

Her mind wasn’t constantly turning over ideas and thoughts for the next day.

Brain was clear, work was switched off , nothing lost.

Blank sheet, pen. It works after any busy activity.

Let me know how you get on!

ASSUMPTIONS are a dangerous thing……

Jul 20, 2013   //   by Anne Russell   //   Blog, Life Coaching, Tip of the Week  //  No Comments

…they are often based on incorrect thinking, or flawed, partial knowledge.

Before you assume your next decision about a situation or worse still, a person and their behaviour, recollect if you are actually assuming the facts.

Even better, have a week catching yourself and “assuming” – then don’t! Watch the difference that makes.

Keep yourself sorted!

Do chronic situations, emotions, especially suppressed, angst, anger, lead to lifestyles that encourage and then maintain weight issues?

In my experiences as a Nutritional Therapist and Life Coach, Yes, definitely.

Go to my pages and understand that this does not need to be the case.

Care for yourself, treat yourself well: Life is for living joyously – and at the weight you want!

AVOID BURNT OUT!

Jun 5, 2013   //   by Anne Russell   //   Blog, Life Coaching  //  No Comments

The benefits and passion of Coaching NorthWest have been focused on Wellbeing – on exactly the problems the heading presents if ignored.

In the States, a very well known business lady is calling out for a Conference on Burn Out.

Read these stats and comments as quoted from her article in the Sunday Times: ” Success is measured on two things: money and power. But it’s time for a third metric, one founded on wellbeing, wisdom and our desire and ability to give back.”

“Women in stressful jobs have a nearly 40%increased risk of heart disease and a 60% increased risk of diabetes. ….we are used to men having heart attacks in their fifties, but it shouldn’t be happening to anyone.”

She wants “Less stress, more living.”  This is a highly respected and motivated business woman. She is declaring war on Lifestyle demanded of most employees to have a business “succeed”. “What is the price we are paying?” she asks. “behind the facade of of a successful life, the job, the kids, the husband – ….. what are we leaving unattended?”

She speaks of learning to meditate – simply because she thought she was too busy to learn, when that was when she needed it most. She speaks of not eating junk food because it messes up mind and body, of doing yoga, of finding ways of sleeping well, without chemical aid, of having sessions of speaking to remove mental stress.  – IE all that is addressed at with Anne at Coaching NorthWest!

Arainna Huffington says this in her speech to a Graduating Class at Massachusetts College – “traditionally expected to tell grads how to go out there and climb the ladder of success, but I want to ask you, instead, to redefine success. Because the world you are heading into desperately needs it.”

Amen to that. What do you think?

Prozac “prison” Yet 47 million prescribed in the UK last year.

May 27, 2013   //   by Anne Russell   //   Blog, Life Coaching  //  No Comments

To quote an article in the Sunday Times by Kathy Brewis “officially Prozac is not addictive.” Then the article goes on to describe the debate surrounding this drug.

She describes the “torment of trying to escape her addiction”. There is no support for those attempting to get off this drug. Long term use, it appears, has shown up many undesirable side effects, including, according to this article, bone fracture, haemorrhages and stroke.

She calls for, having described her ordeal of wanting to remove Prozac and deal with her issues instead, “time for mental health practitioners to think again about alternative treatments for depression”

David Healy is quoted as author of Let Them Eat Prozac”…….he says “Significant numbers of people find it awfully hard to come off Prozac and, when they do, they endure very physical problems that can go on for years.”

The World Health Organisation says the leading cause of “ill health world wide” will be Depression by 2030.

This is serious. Would you rather not face the issues, hit them before they hit you with continuous stress levels? It’s a long dark tunnel back to health if you are caught up in this web.
